Description
Peanut Butter Granola is a simple, crunchy, and delicious homemade snack made with oats, applesauce, peanut butter, and honey. It comes together quickly and is especially tasty with a handful of chocolate chips added at the end.
Ingredients
- 18-ounce container quick-cooking 1-minute oats, approximately 7 cups
- 1 cup applesauce
- 4 tablespoons peanut butter
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/2 cup mini dark chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate chips, optional
- Salt, to taste
- Cooking oil, for lightly greasing the baking sheet
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375Β°F.
- Add the applesauce, peanut butter, and honey to a bowl.
- Beat with an electric mixer until the mixture is completely blended.
- Pour the peanut butter mixture over the oats.
- Stir well until all the oats are evenly moistened.
- Lightly oil a baking sheet.
- Spread the granola mixture evenly over the baking sheet.
- Bake for about 40 minutes.
- Stir or toss the granola every 10 minutes so it browns evenly.
- Once the granola is nicely browned, remove it from the oven.
- Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top and gently stir.
- Lightly season with salt to taste.
- Allow the granola to cool completely. It will become crunchy as it cools.
- Store in an airtight container.
- Enjoy it by itself or serve it in a bowl with milk.
