Notes
- Serve the cookies with tea, coffee, hot chocolate, or a glass of milk.
- Dust the finished cookies lightly with powdered sugar for a classic bakery-style appearance.
- Use strawberry jam for a bright red center or raspberry jam for a slightly tangier flavor.
- Allow the cookies to cool completely before adding the jam so it does not become too runny.
- Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
- Place parchment paper between layers to prevent the cookies from sticking together.
- For longer storage, freeze the assembled cookies in a freezer-safe container for up to 2 months.
- Thaw frozen cookies at room temperature before serving.
- For the best texture, avoid storing them in a warm or humid area.
