This Hamburger Green Bean Casserole is an easy, comforting dinner made with savory ground beef, tender green beans, creamy mushroom sauce, melted cheddar cheese, and crispy French fried onions. It’s a hearty weeknight meal that comes together with simple ingredients and plenty of flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 can (15 oz) green beans, drained
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup French fried onions
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat, breaking it apart as it cooks.
- Drain any excess grease from the cooked beef.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Stir until all ingredients are evenly combined.
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and transfer the mixture into it.
- Spread the mixture evenly throughout the dish.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the casserole.
- Bake for 25 minutes, or until bubbly and the cheese has melted.
- Remove the casserole from the oven and sprinkle the French fried onions evenly over the top.
- Return to the oven and bake for another 5–10 minutes, until the onions are golden and crispy.
- Let the casserole rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Serve this casserole hot with a simple green salad, dinner rolls, mashed potatoes, or roasted vegetables. For extra flavor, garnish with fresh parsley or a little freshly cracked black pepper.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days. Reheat individual portions in the microwave or warm the casserole in a 350°F oven until heated through. You can also prepare the casserole ahead of time, cover it tightly, and refrigerate it before baking. Add the French fried onions near the end of baking so they remain crispy.
