Slow Cooker Grinch Hot Chocolate is a fun, festive drink that brings Christmas magic to every mug! Made with creamy white chocolate, sweetened condensed milk, peppermint, and bright green food coloring, this rich hot chocolate is perfect for holiday parties, Christmas movie nights, and cozy winter gatherings. Top each cup with whipped cream, marshmallows, sprinkles, and a little red candy heart for the cutest Grinch-inspired treat!

Ingredients

For the Hot Chocolate:

  • 1 (12-ounce) package white chocolate chips
  • 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 6 cups milk
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • Green gel food coloring

For the Chocolate Mug Rims:

  • ¼ cup reserved white chocolate chips
  • ½ teaspoon vegetable oil
  • Christmas sprinkles

For Garnishing:

  • Mini marshmallows
  • Whipped topping
  • Extra sprinkles
  • Red candy hearts

Instructions

  1. Set the slow cooker to LOW.
  2. Add the milk, sweetened condensed milk, heavy cream, peppermint extract, and white chocolate chips to the slow cooker. Reserve ¼ cup of white chocolate chips for decorating the mugs.
  3. Cover and cook for 1–1½ hours, stirring frequently with a rubber spatula until the white chocolate has completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
  4. Add green gel food coloring gradually, stirring after each addition until you reach your desired Grinch-green shade.
  5. Place the reserved white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave at 50% power for 1 minute.
  6. Add the vegetable oil and stir. Continue microwaving in 30-second intervals until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
  7. Pour the melted chocolate onto a small plate.
  8. Dip the rims of your mugs into the melted chocolate, slowly rotating each mug to coat the edges evenly.
  9. Immediately dip the chocolate-coated rims into a plate of Christmas sprinkles.
  10. Carefully ladle the hot chocolate into the decorated mugs.
  11. Top each serving with mini marshmallows, whipped topping, extra sprinkles, and a single red candy heart.
  12. Serve warm and enjoy your festive Grinch hot chocolate!

Notes

  • Serve warm: Keep the hot chocolate in the slow cooker on the WARM setting during holiday parties so guests can enjoy it throughout the gathering.
  • Decorate the mugs: Dip the mug rims in melted white chocolate and colorful sprinkles for a festive presentation.
  • Add fun toppings: Use mini marshmallows, whipped cream, crushed peppermint candies, or red candy hearts.
  • Christmas party idea: Set up a hot chocolate bar with different toppings so everyone can customize their own mug.
  • Refrigerator storage: Transfer leftover hot chocolate to an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days.
  • Reheating: Warm leftovers gently in a saucepan over low heat, stirring frequently. You can also microwave individual servings in short intervals.
  • Make-ahead tip: Prepare the hot chocolate mixture ahead of time and refrigerate it before reheating in the slow cooker or on the stovetop.
  • Stir before serving: White chocolate can settle as the drink sits, so give it a good stir before pouring.
  • Keep toppings separate: Add whipped cream, marshmallows, and sprinkles just before serving for the best texture.
  • Avoid overheating: Do not leave the mixture on high heat for extended periods, as dairy and chocolate can scorch.
