Ingredients

Brownies

  • 1 box brownie mix (not prepared)
  • 1 egg
  • 5 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup milk

French Silk Layer

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 4 ounces semi-sweet chocolate
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cubed
  • 8 ounces Cool Whip

Topping

  • 8 ounces Cool Whip
  • Chocolate shavings or mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Grease an 11×7-inch glass baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine brownie mix, egg, melted butter, and milk.
  4. Stir until smooth and fully combined.
  5. Spread batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  6. Bake for 25–28 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Remove brownies from the oven.
  8. Allow brownies to cool completely to room temperature.
  9. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  10. Add powdered sugar and mix until combined.
  11. In a microwave-safe bowl, heat semi-sweet chocolate and cubed butter in 30-second intervals.
  12. Stir between intervals until fully melted and smooth.
  13. Add melted chocolate mixture to the cream cheese mixture.
  14. Mix until fully incorporated.
  15. Gently fold in 8 ounces of Cool Whip.
  16. Spread the French silk mixture evenly over cooled brownies.
  17. Spread the remaining Cool Whip over the top layer.
  18. Sprinkle with chocolate shavings or mini chocolate chips if desired.
  19. Chill before slicing and serving.
