  • Author: Lusine Svetlana

Description

Fluffy Bread Rolls are soft, light, and wonderfully tender with a golden, slightly sweet crust. Made with simple pantry ingredients, these homemade rolls are perfect for breakfast, sandwiches, dinner, or serving alongside soups and stews.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2¼ teaspoons instant yeast
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup warm liquid milk
  • ½ cup warm water
  • ¼ cup butter or margarine
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla flavor, optional
  • Sesame seeds, for topping

For Brushing

  • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt.
  2. Add the warm milk, warm water, egg, and softened butter or margarine.
  3. Mix until the ingredients come together into a dough.
  4. Knead the dough until it becomes smooth, soft, and elastic.
  5. Cover the dough and place it in a warm area. Allow it to rise until doubled in size.
  6. Gently punch down the dough and divide it into equal portions.
  7. Shape each portion into a smooth ball.
  8. Arrange the dough balls in a greased baking pan, leaving a little space between them.
  9. Cover and let the rolls rise again until puffy.
  10. Brush the tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  11. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  12. Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Serve the rolls warm with butter, jam, honey, cheese, or your favorite spread.
  • They are excellent alongside soups, stews, roasted chicken, or pasta dishes.
  • Use them as sandwich buns by slicing them in half and filling them with chicken, beef, cheese, or vegetables.
  • Store completely cooled rolls in an airtight container or food-safe bag at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • For longer storage, freeze the cooled rolls in a freezer-safe bag for up to 2–3 months.
  • Thaw frozen rolls at room temperature and warm them briefly in the oven before serving.
  • To keep them soft, avoid storing warm rolls while they are still releasing steam.
