- 1 medium onion, finely minced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
- 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika (optional)
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 2 tablespoons cold water
- 1 tablespoon cooking oil, for frying
Optional ingredients for extra flavor:
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
Instructions
- Place the ground beef in a large mixing bowl.
- Add the minced onion, garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Season with salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Add the cold water and any optional seasonings you prefer.
- Mix gently with clean hands until all ingredients are evenly combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the patties tender.
- Divide the mixture into 6–8 equal portions.
- Shape each portion into a round patty approximately 1–1.5 cm thick.
- Make a small indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to help prevent excessive puffing during cooking.
- Arrange the patties on a parchment-lined tray, cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Heat the cooking oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Place the patties in the pan, leaving space between them. Cook for approximately 4–6 minutes on each side, adjusting the time according to thickness.
- Check the center with a food thermometer and cook ground beef patties to an internal temperature of 71°C (160°F).
- Transfer the cooked patties to a clean plate and let them rest for 2–3 minutes.
- Serve in toasted burger buns with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, mayonnaise, ketchup, or your favorite toppings.
