  • Author: Lusine Svetlana

Description

These bakery-style Choco Chip Muffins are soft, fluffy, and packed with rich chocolate flavor. They are easy to make and stay wonderfully moist for days, making them perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a sweet snack.

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 cup buttermilk, room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups mini chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons coarse sugar, for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a muffin tin with paper liners or lightly grease it with nonstick spray.
  2. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar in a large bowl.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, vegetable oil, eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently fold until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  5. Fold in the mini chocolate chips, reserving some for the muffin tops.
  6. Fill each muffin cup all the way to the top using an ice cream scoop or spoon.
  7. Sprinkle the tops with the reserved chocolate chips and coarse sugar.
  8. Bake at 425°F for 5 minutes.
  9. Reduce the oven temperature to 350°F and continue baking for 15–17 minutes, or until golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Let the muffins cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Serve the muffins warm or at room temperature with coffee, tea, or a glass of milk.
  • For extra indulgence, serve them slightly warm so the chocolate chips become soft and melty.
  • Store cooled muffins in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • Refrigerate them for up to 5 days, although room-temperature storage keeps them softer.
  • Freeze completely cooled muffins in a freezer-safe bag for up to 3 months.
  • Thaw frozen muffins at room temperature or warm them in the microwave for a few seconds before serving.
