- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions
- Peel, core, and dice the apples into small pieces.
- Add the apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, cornstarch, and tequila or water to a medium-sized frying pan.
- Cook over medium heat for 10–15 minutes, stirring frequently until the apples soften and become coated in a thick, spiced sauce.
- Remove the pan from the heat and allow the apple filling to cool to room temperature.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
- Wrap the tortillas in a damp paper towel and microwave for about 30 seconds to make them soft and easy to roll.
- Place the tortillas on a clean surface and spoon approximately ¼ cup of apple filling into each one.
- Roll each tortilla tightly around the filling and place it seam-side down on a baking sheet.
- Melt the butter in a small bowl and brush it over each taquito.
- Bake for approximately 15 minutes until the tortillas become golden and crispy.
- Brush the taquitos with additional melted butter and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the tops.
- Drizzle with caramel sauce and serve warm with whipped cream or your favorite ice cream.
Notes
- Serve warm: Apple Pie Taquitos taste best fresh from the oven while the tortillas are crispy and the apple filling is warm.
- Add ice cream: Serve with vanilla ice cream for a delicious apple pie-inspired dessert.
- Caramel topping: Drizzle generously with homemade or store-bought caramel sauce before serving.
- Whipped cream: Add a dollop of whipped cream for extra sweetness and a beautiful presentation.
- Refrigerator storage: Store leftover taquitos in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheating: Reheat in an oven at 350°F for about 5–8 minutes or in an air fryer until heated through and crispy.
- Freezing: Freeze assembled, unbaked taquitos without the toppings in a freezer-safe container for up to 2 months. Bake from frozen, adding extra cooking time as needed.
- Make-ahead tip: Prepare the apple filling a day ahead and refrigerate it. Assemble and bake the taquitos when ready to serve.
- Prevent sogginess: Allow the apple filling to cool before adding it to the tortillas. Avoid overfilling to prevent the filling from leaking during baking.
