Perfect for family gatherings, potlucks, or any special occasion, this cake combines layers of textures and flavors that delight the palate. It’s easy to prepare and can be made ahead of time, making it a convenient and impressive dessert choice.

Ingredients

  • 1 10-ounce premade angel food cake (or boxed angel food cake mix prepared and cut into 1-inch cubes)
  • 1 21-ounce can strawberry pie filling
  • 1 3.4-ounce box vanilla instant pudding mix
  • 1½ cups cold whole milk
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 8-ounce tub whipped topping (thawed)

Instructions

  1. Lightly spray a 9×9-inch glass baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. Layer half of the cubed angel food cake in the bottom of the dish.
  3. Spread two-thirds of the strawberry pie filling evenly over the cake cubes.
  4. Layer the remaining angel food cake cubes on top.
  5. In a medium bowl, whisk together cold milk and sour cream until smooth and lump-free.
  6. Whisk in the vanilla instant pudding mix until the mixture begins to thicken.
  7. Spread the pudding mixture evenly over the angel food cake cubes.
  8. Evenly spread the thawed whipped topping over the pudding layer.
  9. Spoon the remaining strawberry pie filling in dollops across the whipped topping and gently swirl with a butter knife.
  10. Cover tightly and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or overnight.
  11. Keep chilled until ready to serve.

Notes

  • Serve chilled directly from the refrigerator for the best flavor and texture.
  • For a more elegant presentation, garnish with fresh strawberries or a light dusting of powdered sugar.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Avoid freezing, as the whipped topping and pudding may separate when thawed.
