Crispy garlic bread serves as the ultimate base for a savory sloppy joe filling, topped with a blanket of gooey melted cheese. This delicious twist on a classic favorite is guaranteed to satisfy both kids and adults alike. Let’s dive into the irresistible combination of flavors and textures!

Ingredients

  • 10 ounce frozen garlic bread loaf (thawed, Pepperidge Farms brand)
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • ½ cup chopped yellow onion
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 15 ounce can of sloppy Joe sauce (Manwich Original brand)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded Colby jack cheese
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prep: Preheat your oven to 375°F and line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil. Allow the frozen garlic bread loaf to thaw while you prepare the sloppy joe mixture.
  2. Sauté Onion and Beef: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt the unsalted butter and sauté the chopped onions until soft and translucent. Add the lean ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks. Drain any excess fat and liquid from the skillet.
  3. Simmer the Sauce: Lower the heat to medium-low and add the sloppy Joe sauce, salt, and black pepper to the skillet with the browned beef and onions. Stir to combine and simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Prepare Garlic Bread: While the sauce is simmering, prepare the garlic bread by removing it from the wrapper and separating the two halves. Place both halves, butter side up, on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Layer on Sloppy Joe Mixture: Spread the sloppy Joe mixture evenly over both halves of the garlic bread.
  6. Top with Cheese: Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded Colby jack cheese over each half of the garlic bread.
  7. Bake to Perfection: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Once baked, remove the Sloppy Joe Garlic Bread from the oven and allow it to cool slightly before garnishing with chopped fresh parsley, if desired. Slice into 2-inch wide breadsticks and serve warm.
