Ingredients

  • 2 (14-ounce) cans sauerkraut, undrained (or 1 (2-pound) bag)
  • 5 or 6 potatoes, peeled and cut into large chunks
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 pound Polish sausage, cut into chunks (or smoked sausage)
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients:
    • Place the sauerkraut and potatoes in the crockpot.
    • Add the caraway seeds, bay leaf, and pepper to the mixture.
  2. Add the Sausage:
    • Place the sausage chunks on top of the sauerkraut and potatoes.
  3. Cook:
    • Pour the water over the ingredients.
    • Cover and cook on high for 4 hours or on low for 6 hours, until the potatoes are tender and the flavors are well combined.
  4. Serve:
    • Remove the bay leaf before serving.
