Description

Looking for a quick and scrumptious snack or appetizer that will delight your taste buds? Look no further than these Pizza Bombs! Bursting with gooey mozzarella cheese, zesty pizza sauce, and savory pepperoni, each bite is a mini explosion of flavor. Easy to make and even easier to devour, this recipe will become a family favorite in no time.

Ingredients

  • 1 can (8-count) Southern Homestyle buttermilk biscuits, not flaky
  • 1 cup (257 g) pizza sauce, divided
  • ½ cup (69 g) mini pepperoni slices, divided
  • 4 ounces mozzarella cheese, cut into 16 equal-sized cubes, divided

For the Garlic Butter:

  • ¼ cup (½ stick / 57 g) unsalted butter, melted
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic salt
  • ¼ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons parmesan cheese, grated

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 375°F and prepare a 12-inch, oven-safe skillet by spraying it with nonstick spray. Alternatively, you can use a greased baking dish.
  2. Flatten the Biscuits: Take the biscuits out of the can and place them on a clean work surface. Use a rolling pin to flatten each biscuit to about ⅛-inch thickness.
  3. Add the Fillings: On each flattened biscuit, spread 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce, sprinkle 1 tablespoon of pepperoni slices, and place 2 cubes of mozzarella cheese.
  4. Seal the Bombs: Carefully fold the edges of the biscuit together, pinching them tightly to seal the fillings inside. Ensure there are no holes or gaps. Place each sealed bomb seam side down into the prepared skillet or baking dish.
  5. Bake: Place the skillet or baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-22 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Prepare the Garlic Butter: While the pizza bombs are baking, prepare the garlic butter by mixing together the melted butter, garlic salt, Italian seasoning, and grated parmesan cheese in a small bowl.
  7. Finish and Serve: Once the pizza bombs are done baking, remove them from the oven and brush the garlic butter mixture generously over the top. Serve hot with the remaining pizza sauce for dipping.

Notes

  1. Serve Immediately: Pizza Bombs are best enjoyed fresh out of the oven when the cheese is gooey and the biscuit crust is crisp. Serve them hot as a delicious appetizer, snack, or even a fun meal for kids.
  2. Garnish with Fresh Herbs: For an extra pop of flavor and color, garnish your Pizza Bombs with freshly chopped herbs such as parsley, basil, or oregano before serving. Not only does it enhance the presentation, but it also adds a burst of freshness to each bite.
  3. Customize Dipping Sauces: While these Pizza Bombs are already packed with flavor, you can elevate the experience by offering a variety of dipping sauces alongside. Consider classic marinara sauce, creamy garlic aioli, or spicy sriracha mayo to complement the flavors and add a personalized touch.
  4. Store Leftovers Properly: If you happen to have any leftovers (although they’re so tasty, it’s rare!), store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days. To reheat, simply place them in a preheated oven at 350°F for a few minutes until warmed through.
  5. Freeze for Later: Pizza Bombs also freeze well for future enjoyment. Once cooled completely, arrange them in a single layer on a baking sheet and place them in the freezer until solid. Transfer the frozen bombs to a freezer-safe bag or container, making sure to remove any excess air to prevent freezer burn. When ready to eat, bake them directly from frozen at 375°F for 15-20 minutes, or until heated through.
  6. Reheat with Care: To maintain the texture and flavors of your Pizza Bombs when reheating, avoid using the microwave, as it may make the biscuit soggy. Instead, opt for the oven or toaster oven for a crispy finish.
