Ingredients
- 1 tube of Pillsbury pizza crust
- 8 slices of deli ham
- 10 slices of Genoa salami
- 12 slices of sandwich pepperoni
- 8 slices of provolone cheese or mozzarella (shredded cheese can also be used)
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 2 minced garlic cloves
- 2 teaspoons chopped parsley
- 3 tablespoons of Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Prepare the Garlic Butter Mixture
- Melt the butter in the microwave and mix in the minced garlic, parsley, and Parmesan cheese. Set this mixture aside for later use.
- Prepare the Baking Sheet
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
- Stretch the Pizza Crust
- Stretch the pizza crust out to almost the size of your baking sheet, ensuring it’s evenly spread out.
- Layer the Deli Meats
- Begin by layering the deli meats. Start with the ham, followed by the salami, and then the pepperoni. This layering helps distribute the flavors evenly throughout the Stromboli.
- Add the Cheese
- Layer the cheese on top of the meats. You can use slices of provolone or mozzarella, or even shredded cheese if you prefer.
- Roll the Stromboli
- Roll the Stromboli longwise, ensuring to seal the seam well. This prevents the ingredients from spilling out during baking.
- Seal the ends by pinching them and molding any excess dough to the underside of the Stromboli.
- Score the Top
- Score the top of the Stromboli a few times with a serrated knife. This allows the steam to escape while baking and prevents the crust from becoming soggy.
- Top with Garlic Butter Mixture
- Brush the garlic butter mixture generously over the top of the Stromboli. This adds an extra layer of flavor and helps the crust become golden and crispy.
- Bake the Stromboli
- Bake the Stromboli according to the instructions on the back of the pizza dough tube. Typically, it has the same bake time as a regular pizza, but without the need to par-bake.
Notes
Once you’ve baked your delicious homemade Stromboli, you’ll want to ensure it’s enjoyed at its best and stored properly for future indulgence. Here are some serving and storage tips to help you make the most of your Stromboli:
Serving Tips
- Slicing: Allow the Stromboli to cool for a few minutes after baking. This helps the cheese set slightly, making it easier to slice. Use a serrated knife to cut the Stromboli into 1-2 inch slices.
- Dipping Sauces: Although this recipe skips the traditional red sauce inside the Stromboli, you can serve it with a side of marinara or pizza sauce for dipping. Other great options include ranch dressing or garlic butter.
- Presentation: Arrange the slices on a platter with dipping sauces in small bowls. Garnish with a sprinkle of fresh parsley or Parmesan cheese for an appealing presentation.
Storage Tips
- Refrigeration: If you have leftovers, wrap the Stromboli slices tightly in aluminum foil or plastic wrap, or store them in an airtight container. Refrigerate for up to 3-4 days.
- Freezing: For longer storage, wrap the Stromboli tightly in plastic wrap and then in aluminum foil, or place it in a freezer-safe container. Freeze for up to 2-3 months. To reheat, thaw it in the refrigerator overnight and then warm it in the oven at 350°F (175°C) until heated through.
- Reheating: To reheat refrigerated Stromboli, place the slices on a baking sheet and warm in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes. You can also reheat in the microwave, but the crust may not stay as crisp.
