Ingredients
- 1 (32-ounce) bag tater tots
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 (1-ounce) package taco seasoning
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- Salsa, for serving
- Shredded lettuce, for serving
- Pickled jalapenos, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Arrange tater tots in a single layer on the sheet and bake 28–30 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- While the tots are baking, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up, until no pink remains.
- Stir in taco seasoning and ¼ cup water. Simmer until the liquid is absorbed.
- Once tater tots are baked, remove from oven and top with the cooked ground beef and shredded cheddar cheese.
- Return baking sheet to oven for 5 minutes or until cheese is melted.
- Remove from oven and add your desired toppings (salsa, shredded lettuce, pickled jalapenos). Serve immediately.
Notes
- Serving: Serve hot for maximum crispiness. Perfect with a side of guacamole or sour cream.
- Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven at 375°F for 10 minutes to keep tots crispy.
- Freezing: You can freeze cooked tater tots separately before adding toppings. Reheat in the oven for 15 minutes at 400°F.
