Perfect for cookie exchanges, holiday platters, or a fun project with the kids, Grinch Balls are the ultimate sweet treat for the season.
Ingredients
- 24.4 ounces Red Velvet Oreos (2 packages, about 44 cookies)
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature
- 15 ounces light green candy melts
- Red candy hearts (for topping)
Instructions
-
Prep the tray
Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking. -
Crush the Oreos
Add Oreo cookies to a food processor and pulse into fine crumbs. Alternatively, place them in a plastic bag and crush with a rolling pin. -
Mix with cream cheese
In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth using an electric mixer. -
Combine the mixture
Add the crushed Oreos to the cream cheese and mix until fully combined into a thick dough-like consistency. -
Form into balls
Use a 1.5-inch cookie scoop to portion the mixture. Roll into smooth balls with your hands and place on the prepared baking sheet. -
Chill the balls
Refrigerate the Oreo balls for at least 2 hours to firm up before dipping. -
Melt the candy coating
Reserve ½ cup of candy melts for drizzle if desired. Melt the remaining candy melts in a double boiler over low heat, stirring frequently until smooth. -
Dip the balls
Using a fork or toothpick, dip each chilled Oreo ball into the melted candy. Let the excess drip off and place back on the baking sheet. -
Optional drizzle
If using a drizzle, melt the reserved candy melts in a piping bag using the microwave on defrost for 30 seconds at a time. Snip the tip and drizzle over the balls. -
Top with red hearts
While the drizzle is still wet, place one red candy heart on top of each Grinch Ball. -
Set and serve
Return the tray to the refrigerator and chill until the coating is fully set.

-
Thawing: When ready to eat, transfer the desired amount to the refrigerator and let them thaw overnight.
-
Avoid Moisture: Always keep the container sealed tightly to prevent moisture from affecting the candy coating’s texture.
