Description

Looking for a tasty and crispy alternative to traditional French fries? These Green Bean Fries are the perfect choice! Fresh green beans are coated in a seasoned batter, then fried to golden perfection. They’re crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside, and full of flavor. Whether you serve them as a snack, appetizer, or side dish, everyone will love this easy 25-minute recipe.

Ingredients

  • ¾ pound fresh green beans, washed and trimmed
  • Oil for frying
  • Kosher salt, to taste

For the Batter

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat a deep fryer or a large skillet of oil to 375°F.
  2. Trim the ends of the green beans and pat them dry with paper towels.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together all the batter ingredients until smooth. Let it rest for 5 minutes.
  4. Using a fork, dip several beans into the batter, coating them completely.
  5. Carefully place the coated beans into the hot oil in small batches.
  6. Fry for 2–3 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove the beans with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  8. Sprinkle immediately with kosher or seasoned salt.

Notes

    • Serve immediately: Green Bean Fries are best enjoyed fresh from the fryer while they’re hot and crispy.
    • Dipping sauces: Pair them with ranch dressing, chipotle mayo, spicy aioli, honey mustard, or marinara sauce for extra flavor.
    • Reheating: To reheat, use an air fryer or oven at 375°F for 5–7 minutes until crisp again. Avoid microwaving, as it makes them soggy.
    • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
    • Freezing: For longer storage, freeze fried green beans on a baking sheet, then transfer to a freezer bag for up to 2 months. Reheat directly from frozen in the oven.
