Description
Garlic Cheese Toast is the ultimate side dish or appetizer that complements just about any meal. This recipe combines the richness of melted butter, the bold flavor of fresh garlic, and the irresistible melt of three different cheeses—cheddar, Monterey Jack, and Parmesan—on top of thick, crispy bread. In just 13 minutes, you can have golden, bubbly, and flavorful cheese toast that pairs beautifully with soups, salads, or pasta dishes.
Ingredients
- 10 tablespoons salted butter, softened and divided
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ¼ cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- ¼ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 10 slices thick-sliced bread, slightly dry
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Butter one side of each bread slice with 2 tablespoons of the softened butter. Place them butter side down on a baking sheet.
- In a food processor, combine the remaining butter, minced garlic, and all the cheeses. Pulse until the mixture is well combined and smooth.
- Spread the cheesy garlic mixture evenly over the unbuttered sides of the bread slices.
- Place the baking sheet in the oven on the middle rack and bake for 8–10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- For a golden-brown finish, turn on the broiler and broil for an additional 30–60 seconds, watching carefully to prevent burning.
Notes
- Serving: Serve Garlic Cheese Toast hot and fresh from the oven for the best texture and flavor. It pairs wonderfully with pasta dishes like spaghetti or lasagna, soups such as tomato basil or broccoli cheddar, and fresh salads.
- Storage: Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheating: Reheat in a preheated oven at 350°F for 5–7 minutes until warm and crisp again. Avoid microwaving, as it can make the bread soggy.
- Freezing: You can prepare the toasts ahead of time, freeze them on a tray, then transfer to a freezer bag. Bake straight from frozen for about 10–12 minutes at 375°F.
