Ingredients

For the Garlic Butter Steak Bites

  • 1 lb (450g) sirloin or ribeye steak, cut into bite-sized cubes

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Optional: chopped fresh parsley for garnish

For the Parmesan Cream Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter

  • 2 cloves garlic, finely minced

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

  • Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes for a hint of spice

Instructions

1. Sauté the Onions
In a small pan, heat a little vegetable oil and sauté the chopped onions until softened, about 5 minutes. Set aside to cool slightly.
2. Mix the Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef and pork mix, breadcrumbs, egg, sautéed onions, Dijon mustard, parsley, salt, pepper, and paprika. Mix well until fully combined.
3. Shape the Patties
Form the meat mixture into equal-sized patties, about 3/4 inch thick.
4. Fry the Patties
Heat vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Cook the patties for 5–7 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
5. Drain and Serve
Remove the cooked Frikadellen from the pan and drain them on paper towels. Serve warm and enjoy their savory, juicy flavor.

Notes

Serving Tips

  • Traditional Style: Serve Frikadellen hot with German potato salad, sauerkraut, or creamy mashed potatoes for an authentic German meal.

  • Casual Option: Enjoy them on a fresh bread roll with mustard or pickles for a quick and hearty sandwich.

  • With Sides: Pair with roasted vegetables, green beans, or a crisp cucumber salad for a balanced dinner.

  • For Parties: Make smaller patties and serve them as appetizers or snacks at gatherings — they taste great warm or at room temperature.

Storage Tips

  • Refrigeration: Store leftover Frikadellen in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

  • Reheating: Reheat in a skillet over medium heat for about 5 minutes or in the oven at 350°F (175°C) until warmed through. Avoid microwaving for too long to prevent them from drying out.

  • Freezing: Freeze cooked Frikadellen in a single layer on a baking sheet, then transfer to a freezer bag. They can be frozen for up to 2 months. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight before reheating.

  • Meal Prep Tip: Prepare the patties in advance and refrigerate the uncooked mixture for up to 24 hours before frying for an easy make-ahead dinner.
