Ingredients

  • 2 lb fully cooked frozen meatballs (beef, chicken, pork, turkey, or veggie)
  • ¾ cup honey
  • 1 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves minced garlic or 1 teaspoon minced garlic in oil
  • ½ cup diced onion
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Place the frozen meatballs in the basin of a 6-quart slow cooker.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the honey, soy sauce, ketchup, olive oil, minced garlic, diced onion, and red pepper flakes. Stir well to ensure all ingredients are thoroughly mixed.
  3. Pour the sauce over the meatballs in the slow cooker, making sure they are evenly coated.
  4. Cover the slow cooker and cook on HIGH for 2.5 to 3 hours, or on LOW for 4 to 6 hours, until the meatballs are heated through and the sauce has thickened slightly.
  5. Stir the meatballs halfway through the cooking time to ensure even coating with the sauce.
  6. Once cooked, stir the meatballs again and serve hot.
  7. Garnish with sliced green onions if desired for added freshness and color.
  8. Enjoy these irresistible honey garlic meatballs as a tasty appetizer or as a main dish served over rice or noodles.

Notes

Serving Tips:

  1. For a crowd-pleasing appetizer, skewer the honey garlic meatballs with toothpicks and serve them alongside a dipping sauce made from extra honey garlic sauce or sweet chili sauce.
  2. Create a hearty meal by serving the meatballs over a bed of fluffy rice or cooked noodles. Drizzle any remaining sauce over the top for extra flavor.
  3. Customize your presentation by garnishing the dish with freshly chopped parsley or sesame seeds for added visual appeal and texture.
  4. Pair these delectable meatballs with your favorite side dishes, such as steamed vegetables, garlic bread, or a crisp salad, to create a well-rounded and satisfying meal.

Storage Tips:

  1. Store any leftover honey garlic meatballs in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
  2. To freeze, allow the meatballs to cool completely before transferring them to a freezer-safe container or resealable bag. They can be stored in the freezer for up to 2-3 months.
  3. When reheating, gently warm the meatballs in the microwave or on the stovetop until heated through. Add a splash of water or broth to prevent them from drying out.
  4. For a quick and convenient meal prep option, portion the cooked meatballs into individual servings and freeze them in meal-sized containers. Simply reheat as needed for a delicious and hassle-free meal.
