Cotton Candy Poke Cake

  • Author: Lusine Svetlana

Description

Cotton Candy Poke Cake is a delightful, whimsical dessert that brings a burst of color and sweetness to any occasion. With a soft and fluffy texture infused with cotton candy flavor, this cake is filled with creamy white chocolate pudding and topped with a generous layer of cool whip. The final touch of real cotton candy makes it an eye-catching and irresistible treat for birthdays, parties, and celebrations.

Ingredients

  • 1 box white cake mix
  • ¼ to ½ teaspoon cotton candy flavoring
  • 2 boxes white chocolate instant pudding mix (or vanilla)
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 large container cool whip
  • 1 package cotton candy
  • Food coloring

Instructions

1. Prepare the Cake
Follow the instructions on the cake mix box to prepare the batter. Stir in the cotton candy flavoring to enhance the taste. Pour the batter into a greased 13×9-inch pan and bake according to the package directions.

2. Cool the Cake
Once baked, let the cake cool on a wire rack for about 5-10 minutes.

3. Poke the Cake
Using the end of a wooden spoon, poke holes evenly across the cake to allow the filling to seep in.

4. Prepare the Pudding Mixture
Whisk together the white chocolate pudding mix and milk. Add a few drops of food coloring to create a swirled, marble effect. Work quickly before the pudding starts to thicken.

5. Fill the Cake
Pour the pudding mixture over the cake, ensuring it fills the holes evenly for a rich and creamy texture.

6. Chill the Cake
Refrigerate the cake for at least one hour to let the flavors set.

7. Add the Topping
Spread a smooth layer of cool whip over the cake, giving it a light and fluffy finish.

8. Garnish with Cotton Candy
Right before serving, top the cake with pieces of cotton candy for a fun and playful look. Be sure to add the cotton candy just before serving to prevent it from dissolving.

Notes

Serving Tips

  • Serve the cake chilled for the best texture and flavor. The pudding and cool whip create a refreshing, creamy bite.
  • Add the cotton candy topping right before serving to prevent it from dissolving due to moisture.
  • For extra flair, drizzle a light glaze of melted white chocolate or sprinkle edible glitter over the top.

Storage Tips

  • Store leftover cake in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. The cool whip and pudding filling keep it moist and delicious.
  • Avoid adding cotton candy before storing, as it will melt and lose its texture. Add fresh cotton candy when serving leftovers.
  • For longer storage, freeze the cake (without the cotton candy topping) for up to one month. Wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and a layer of foil before freezing. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight before serving.
