Recreate the famous fast-food favorite at home with this Copycat Crunchwrap Supreme recipe. Packed with seasoned beef, crispy tostadas, fresh veggies, and a delicious cheese blend, these Crunchwraps are a guaranteed hit for dinner or a hearty snack.

Ingredients

  • 5 large flour tortillas
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • ⅓ cup water
  • 3 tablespoons taco seasoning
  • ⅔ cup nacho cheese sauce
  • 4 tostadas (or 2 cups tortilla chips)
  • ⅔ cup sour cream
  • 1 cup iceberg lettuce (shredded)
  • 1 cup tomatoes (diced)
  • 2 cups Mexican cheese blend (shredded)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until no pink remains. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Season the Beef: Add ⅓ cup of water and taco seasoning to the skillet. Stir and simmer uncovered for 5 minutes or until thickened.
  3. Prepare the Tortillas: Meanwhile, cut one of the flour tortillas into quarters. Use kitchen scissors or a knife to round the corners.
  4. Warm the Tortillas: Place the remaining four tortillas on a plate and cover them with a damp paper towel. Microwave them for 20-30 seconds or until they are warm.
  5. Assemble the Crunchwraps: Add ¼ cup of ground beef to the center of each tortilla. Top with nacho cheese sauce. Add a tostada shell, sour cream, lettuce, tomato, and Mexican cheese blend.
  6. Seal the Crunchwraps: Place the quartered tortilla in the center and gently fold the larger tortilla around it to seal.
  7. Cook the Crunchwraps: In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium heat. In batches, add the folded tortillas seam side down to the skillet and cook until golden, about 3-4 minutes. Flip and cook the other side.

Notes

Serving Tips

  1. Accompaniments: Serve your Crunchwrap Supremes with sides like guacamole, salsa, or a fresh pico de gallo. These add extra flavor and freshness to your meal.
  2. Spice It Up: Offer hot sauce or sliced jalapeños for those who like a bit of heat.
  3. Presentation: Cut the Crunchwraps in half for a beautiful presentation and easier eating.
  4. Pairing Suggestions: Pair with a cold beverage like a margarita, soda, or a chilled beer to complement the flavors.
  5. Fresh Herbs: Garnish with freshly chopped cilantro or green onions for added color and flavor.

Storage Tips

  1. Refrigeration: Store any leftover Crunchwraps in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Ensure they are completely cool before storing to avoid condensation, which can make them soggy.
  2. Reheating: To reheat, place the Crunchwraps in a skillet over medium heat for a few minutes on each side until warmed through. You can also reheat them in the oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes.
  3. Microwave Option: If you’re in a hurry, you can microwave the Crunchwraps. Place them on a microwave-safe plate and heat for 1-2 minutes, though the tortillas may not stay as crispy.
  4. Freezing: For longer storage, you can freeze the assembled but uncooked Crunchwraps. Wrap each one tightly in plastic wrap and place in a freezer-safe bag. They can be frozen for up to 2 months.
  5. Cooking from Frozen: When ready to eat, thaw the Crunchwraps in the refrigerator overnight and then cook as directed. Alternatively, cook them from frozen in a skillet over low heat, covered, until heated through, flipping occasionally to ensure even cooking.

These serving and storage tips will help you enjoy your Copycat Crunchwrap Supremes to the fullest, whether you’re serving them fresh or saving some for later. Enjoy your homemade fast-food favorite!
