Ingredients
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup water
- 2 ½ tablespoons sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Prepare the Cinnamon-Sugar Mixture: In a medium bowl or a brown paper bag, combine the ½ cup sugar and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Set aside.
- Heat the Oil: Heat about 2-1/2 inches of oil in a deep-fryer or heavy-bottomed pot to 375°F.
- Make the Dough: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine water, 2-1/2 tablespoons sugar, salt, and vegetable oil. Bring the mixture to a boil, then remove from heat. Stir in the flour until the mixture forms a ball.
- Form the Dough Balls: Allow the dough to cool slightly. Scoop and lightly roll the dough into balls about the size of walnuts.
- Fry the Dough Balls: Carefully place 3-4 dough balls into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes, turning as needed.
- Coat with Cinnamon-Sugar: Remove the fried dough balls from the oil with a slotted spoon and immediately toss them in the reserved cinnamon-sugar mixture until well coated.
- Serve and Enjoy: Transfer the coated Churros Poppers to a plate and repeat the frying and coating process with the remaining dough balls. Serve immediately while still warm and enjoy the crispy, cinnamon-sugar goodness!

Storage Tips
- Refrigeration: Store any leftover Churros Poppers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. To reheat, place them in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 5-7 minutes to regain their crispy texture.
- Freezing: For longer storage, Churros Poppers can be frozen. Place cooled poppers in a single layer on a baking sheet and freeze until solid. Transfer them to a freezer-safe container or bag, and store for up to 2-3 months. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes or until warmed through.
- Avoid Sogginess: To prevent Churros Poppers from becoming soggy, do not store them with any dipping sauces or toppings. Keep these separate until ready to serve.
- Quick Reheat: For a quick reheat, use an air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 3-4 minutes. This will help maintain their crispy exterior.
- Reviving Crispness: If the Churros Poppers lose their crispiness, place them on a baking sheet and reheat in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for a few minutes until they regain their crunch.
These serving and storage tips will help you enjoy your Churros Poppers at their best, whether fresh out of the fryer or reheated for a later treat.
