Ingredients

  • 1 (16 ounce) package breakfast sausage
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • Ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil, or as needed (Optional)
  • 1 (12 inch) pre-baked pizza crust
  • Cooking spray
  • 6 eggs
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese, or as desired

Instructions

1. Prepare the Sausage Gravy

Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Cook and stir the sausage in the hot skillet until browned, which should take about 5 to 7 minutes. Once the sausage is cooked, drain and discard the grease. Stir in the flour until it’s fully dissolved, then add 2 cups of milk. Stir occasionally until the gravy reaches your desired consistency, which should take around 10 minutes. Season the gravy with ground black pepper to taste.

2. Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).

3. Assemble the Pizza

Place the pre-baked pizza crust on a baking sheet and brush it with olive oil. Spread half of the prepared sausage gravy over the olive oil layer.

4. Scramble the Eggs

Spray a large skillet with cooking spray and warm it over medium-high heat. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs and 1/4 cup of milk. Pour the egg mixture into the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, until the eggs are fully set, which should take about 5 minutes.

5. Top and Bake the Pizza

Top the pizza with the scrambled eggs and sprinkle with shredded Cheddar cheese. Bake in the preheated oven until the crust is golden brown and the top is bubbling, which should take about 10 to 15 minutes.

  2. Serve with a Side Salad: Balance the richness of the pizza with a light side salad of mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, and a simple vinaigrette.
  3. Add Hot Sauce: Offer hot sauce on the side for those who like a bit of heat with their breakfast.
  4. Cut into Slices: For a gathering, cut the pizza into small slices or squares to make it easy for guests to enjoy.

Storage Tips

  1. Refrigeration: Store any leftover pizza in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will stay fresh for up to 3 days.
  2. Reheating: To reheat, preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and warm the pizza for about 10 minutes or until heated through. Alternatively, you can reheat individual slices in the microwave for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Freezing: For longer storage, you can freeze the pizza. Wrap individual slices in plastic wrap and then place them in a freezer-safe bag or container. The pizza can be frozen for up to 2 months.
  4. Reheating from Frozen: To reheat frozen slices, preheat your oven to 375 degrees F and bake for 15-20 minutes or until thoroughly heated. You can also thaw the slices in the refrigerator overnight and then reheat as you would refrigerated leftovers.
